The President of the Republic, Denis Sassou-N'Guesso, received on February 10 in Brazzaville the Chinese ambassador, Ma Fulin, who transmitted a message from his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping.

The content of the message was not revealed to the press but would deal, among other things, with bilateral cooperation issues. The Republic of Congo and China are linked since 2016 by a global strategic partnership affecting almost all sectors of activity.

The Chinese diplomat said that projects of common interest that haven’t been carried out because of the health crisis were discussed during his meeting with the Congolese head of state.

"As immediate projects, we have the construction of the aeronautical maintenance centre. The technicians are already on site but the project has not yet officially begun," he explained.

The Chinese ambassador also spoke of the debt of the Congo to his country, estimated in 2021 by the Congolese government to 1300 billion CFA francs.

"In 2019, both our countries have initiated the process of debt restructuring. As we have a new situation, we need concrete measures. Our goal is to help Congo, to give it more strength and a beautiful future to our cooperation, "he added.
