The ceremony took place on May 11 in Oyo, not far from the President's native village, in the presence of the prestigious institution and several Congolese personalities. In his speech, Dominique Barjot, permanent secretary of the Académie des Sciences d'Outre-mer, praised President Denis Sassou-N-Guesso's ongoing commitment to preserving biodiversity. In particular, he praised his commitment to forest protection, notably through the organization of the Three Basins Summit in November 2023.
