On February 27, 2024, Société Nationale des Pétroles du Congo (SNPC) and Eni Congo inaugurated the start-up of liquefied natural gas (LNG) production at the Litchendjili gas field near Pointe Noire, in the presence of the President of the Republic. This first site will gradually reach a liquefied gas production capacity of 4 to 5 billion cubic meters per year, thereby eliminating gas flaring throughout the country. A second, similar site will be operational by 2025.
