President Denis Sassou-N'Guesso received at the Élysée Palace by President Emmanuel Macron
As part of his official visit to France, the President of the Republic of Congo, His Excellency Denis Sassou-N'Guesso, was received by the President of the French Republic, Emmanuel Macron, on Friday May 23 at 12:45 pm at the Élysée Palace.
The meeting marked a high point in bilateral cooperation between the Republic of Congo and France. A face-to-face meeting between the two heads of state, preceded by an extended meeting between their respective delegations, provided an opportunity to deepen discussions on common strategic issues.
At the end of the meeting, several major agreements were signed between the two parties:
- two financing agreements corresponding to tranches 1 and 2 of the program to support the management of protected areas in the Congo, as part of the Country Package for Nature, Climate and Forests initiative.
- An energy partnership agreement (FEXTE Énergie) for the modernization of Congo's public electricity distribution network, in partnership with the Ministry of Energy, the public electricity company and Seureca (a VEOLIA subsidiary).
- A letter of intent in the field of resilient urban mobility, including the project to extend the Corniche road in Brazzaville.
- A declaration of intent for the creation of an Academy for the Fight against Environmental Crime (AILCE) in Brazzaville.
- A cooperation agreement between the Port Autonome de Pointe-Noire (PAPN) and the Grand Port Fluvio-maritime de l'Axe Seine (HAROPA PORT), signed on the occasion of the dinner organized by MEDEF international and CIAN at the Automobile Club de Paris.
President Denis Sassou-N'Guesso's visit continues with talks with the President of the French Senate, Gérard Larcher, and a series of economic meetings with the French and Congolese business communities.
