President Denis Sassou-Nguesso called for coordinated progress across the continent. “That is why we are counting on African cooperation and integration in space policy, because in this competitive sector, we must avoid developing 54 isolated space policies when we can pool certain infrastructure, data, expertise, and investments. Space can therefore address some of Africa’s most pressing needs and priorities, particularly food security and the protection of our environment,”

During the summit, the President proposed establishing a space observatory for the Congo Basin in Brazzaville to help preserve the world’s largest carbon sink.
