Mohamed El-Amine Souef and Denis Sassou-N’Guesso discuss security issues in Central Africa.
The new Special Envoy of the United Nations Secretary-General for Central Africa, Mohamed El-Amine Souef, was received by the President on October 2 in Brazzaville.
This first-ever meeting allowed the UN representative to present his priorities regarding security issues in the subregion to the President. At the conclusion of the meeting, the Comorian diplomat praised the role played by the Republic of the Congo in peace and mediation efforts in Central Africa and the Great Lakes region.
“This is a visit to establish contact and get acquainted,” explained Mohamed El-Amine Souef. The special envoy also noted the willingness expressed by Congolese authorities to continue their collaboration with the United Nations and the African Union on all issues related to stability in the subregion and the continent more broadly.
