Impfondo hybrid power plant project : An essential link in the Likouala electrification scheme

President Denis Sassou-N'Guesso made a two days visit to the country's northernmost department, Likouala, stopping successively at Impfondo and Epena, to give impetus to the pursuit of electrification and fulfill a strong expectation of the region's populations.

On Monday 22 May, accompanied by Prime Minister Anatole Collinet Makosso and the Minister of Energy and Hydraulics Emile Ouosso, the Head of State inaugurated the Impfondo thermal power station. With a capacity of 3.4 MW, it doubles the supply capacity of the regional capital.

This ambitious energy project will be completed, in a second phase, by the commissioning of a solar power plant with 12,000 panels and a capacity of 6 MW, the completion of which will mark a further milestone in the implementation of the national energy transition strategy of the Republic of Congo.
