COP 30 - Belém, Brazil - 10–21 November 2025

During his speech, the President highlighted the main challenges surrounding biodiversity conservation: preserving forests, peatlands, and water resources, cooperation and funding for environmental issues.

The president emphasized that the Republic of Congo was doing everything in its power to contribute to the fight against climate change through numerous initiatives such as National Tree Day, the national afforestation program, the Blue Fund for the Congo Basin, the certification of forests in tropical rainforest areas, the creation of the Three Forest Basins Summit, and the preservation of ethnic populations, the primary guardians and defenders of ecosystems.

It was also at the instigation of the Republic of Congo that the resolution for a decade of reforestation was passed almost unanimously by the UN in April 2025.

The climate crisis is also a crisis of equity. As a reminder, more than 95% of carbon emissions are generated by countries in the northern hemisphere.

The countries of the South, the vulnerable countries, particularly those in Africa, are expecting firm commitments from COP 30 in Belém, Brazil, particularly in terms of financing. Ten years after the Paris Agreement, the President notes the yawning gap between the stated ambitions and the gross inadequacy of the efforts made.

In conclusion, the President called on "the United Nations to provide financial support to developing countries in their mitigation, adaptation and prevention efforts, while paying close attention to compensation for losses and damages related to climate change."
